Dr. Stephen N. (Nate) Risdon is completing his post doctorate fellowship with RJHE and serves as its managing director and a lead research associate. Recently, Nate completed his Ph.D. in higher education at Azusa Pacific University with a focus on racial justice and equity.  His dissertation, Sponsors, Saviors, and the Good White Man, examined the promising and problematic aspects of White allies sponsoring emerging leaders of color.  Nate has several publications including two with Advance Magazine, “A Call to Listen, Respond, and Connect” and “Moving Forward Together”.  He was also a contributing author for the publication, “Barriers and Strategies by White Faculty Who Incorporate Anti-Racist Pedagogy”, a peer-review publication with the Race and Pedagogy Journal. Nate has presented at numerous national conferences including ASHE, SXSW, Race & Pedagogy, and the CCCU diversity conference. He has worked in the public and private sectors of education for over 15 years.
